That's right, I made a topic for ya'll to blog about any noteworthy adventure you encounter along any video game you are currently playing through, or talk about your experience with a game you just finished.

I just finished The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD, which is a huge improvement over the Gamecube game, by a lot. If I have one complaint about it, it's that you can only get the Swift Sail via the auction house, which is random, and putting up with RNG is never fun.

I also just finished Kingdom Hearts Reverse/Rebirth. It surely made me appreciate Sora's side a lot more what with having my cards broken all the goddamn time, but after I got the point that the emphasis was more on breaking cards, things got more manageable.
I never got an explanation to Riku's blindfold and that bothers me.

I dropped Metroid Prime Hunters cause I'm bad at it and I lack the motivation or the patience to git gud at it, so I picked up Trace Memory instead, and so far, it's really killin my bottom screen, if I didn't have a screen protector on this thing I dunno what I'd do!

I am back at playing trough Megaman Legends 2, I can't believe I've finished the original like n times but I have not finished the second one in the 3 years since I've started it. I'm now near the end. I know Megaman's origin now and found out something strange about the humans in the game, which I think is pretty much the reason why their technology is so old considering the game takes place millions of years after ZX.

Playing through White Knight Chronicles in White Knight Chronicles 2

I'm pleasantly surprised they didn't just repackaged the game, they went in a changed things that I had problems with, like making the time bar load faster, giving each enemy definable weak points, and clear indication when you're using an attack they're weak against, and most importantly, the White Knight can heal itself.

Cause in the original, The White Knight had to use healing items in the inventory of whoever transformed, which wouldn't have been a big deal, if the game didn't have these surprise scripted events where I have to use the White Knight to fight certain consecutive bosses, so if for whatever reason I understocked on healing items, I gotta go through potential gauntlets with a single health bar, and that wasn't pleasant.

I started Dust:An Elysian Tail
Despite my gripes with that title for nitpicky reasons, It's a very pretty game with a tubular soundtrack, but the mechanics are simple, like, really simple, depending on how long this game is, things could get problematic for my interests.

Maybe you should have started the game on a harder difficulty if it's boring you already. Actually, does the game even have difficulty levels? I don't remember.
It has difficulty settings, and you can change it whenever you want without starting a new game.

And I said the mechanics were simple, not that I was bored. So if the game is only about 5-10 hours, then it'll be a blast, any longer than that, then the story better be the best thing ever.

Well, I finished Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus.
As far as Musou-styled beat-em-ups go, this one is prolly my favourite, for no other reason than cause it's easy to level up the characters, so by the time I'm forced to use a character, they'll be at a useful state so I won't be tearing my hair out trying to finish a mission.

I started playing Bully, it's a pretty neat brawler (although I expected a less violent GTA-like game), aside from the minor lag here and there and the odd controls (I wish my controller worked with it because the keyboard and mouse don't do it justice), I really enjoyed it.
I also found the English patched version of Ace Attorney Investigations Miles Edgeworth Prosecutor's Path and I love every second of it.

So I'm playing FF7 for what's prolly the 10th time or somethin, but this time I got it on the Vita as I prefer turn based RPGs on a handheld, one advantage that I planned to make full use of is that I can watch something like a Twitch stream whenever it got to a grinding part.

I say planned, cause I've been having some eerie good luck so far when it comes to grinding, that is, steal and random drop grinding, not level grinding.

Encountered and stole from all the enemies I wanted on the 1st try, also bucked up on Yuffie on the 1st possible encounter

Not that I'm complaining or anything.

Beyond Good and Evil, and I have to say that it surpassed my expectations, from the reviews I've seen for it the game seemed very generic, but when I started playing I was hooked.
The controls were a little odd at first and since my laptop isn't the best gaming platform I got some lag here and there (mostly when entering the city area with the hovercraft), other than that the game is quite fun, it has an interesting world, great story and characters, and it feels like a combo of Zelda (heck, the reason I started playing it is because I searched for Zelda clones and BG&E was in the first place and don't tell me that the name of the people in the game isn't a reference to it) and Metal Gear.
One little thing that annoys me is the need to collect pearls in order to progress in the story.

I was playing Fallout New Vegas.
It was great fun at first, but once I got to the New Vegas Strip, the quest got a lot longer, more tedious, and I kept bumping into roadblocks where either I didn't have the skills or requirements necessary to move further, or the alternative just wasn't worth it, made even more annoying when these roadblocks happen so late into the quest.

The game quickly plummeted into this long list of chores to do, and I dunno if I'm motivated enough to stick with it.

What's wrong with long quests? It's not like the quests aren't diverse. You're usually going to different locations, interacting with different people, and just in general doing different stuff. Is there a specific quest that you found tedious?

The great thing about the quests in this game is that there are multiple ways to complete them so if you run into a roadblock because you don't meet some requirement there's usually another way to complete the quest, and if not then you can always do a completely different quest until you improve your stats.

Hakudamashi

Non of that really matters if I no longer enjoy what I'm doing

The only quest out of the 3 you listed that I've done is Beyond the Beef, and the only roadblock I came across with it is not being able to bring my holdout weapons into the casino (which isn't even a requirement to finish the quest but it made it easier for the method I took) since my Sneak stat was too low. I just went on some other quests for a while until I leveled up my Sneak skill enough, and after that the quest was smooth sailing. I mean, look at all the ways you can complete the quest (spoilers I guess). It accommodates every kind of character build so I can't imagine how you could get stuck on that one.

Hakudamashi

Because I couldn't sneak, I couldn't lockpick, I had no fame to get sponsored, and I locked myself out from getting the key from Mortimer.

And the game said I only had till 7pm before shit goes down, so EXCUSE ME for thinking it was urgent so I didn't walk away to try again at my convenience.

I couldn't lockpick and I didn't get the key from Mortimer either. As I said, there's multiple ways to complete the quest and according to the chart I posted there's a way you can beat it without any stat checks. But even if there wasn't, did it really bother you that you have to level up your character to complete a quest in an RPG?

In any ol RPG? no

In this one? yes.

Why were you expecting Fallout to be different?

Hakudamashi

Oh, that's easy

In the first place, I treat Western RPGs much differently than JRPGs.

JRPGs. I'm more focused of completing the story, whatever quests I can't do I can just leave it, and their combat systems are typically enjoyable for me that when it's time to grind I can just go on autopilot.

With WRPGs, since they focus more on self-insert stories, I try to Role Play(go figure) and try to do all the things I want to do and would do, which typically involve just me being a drifter going from place to place and sorting out people's problems and bettering the world in my own way. Their combat is normally sufficient enough to satisfy me with my few scruffles here and there, but primarily I play these games for the wandering.

tl;dr, because combat in WRPGs are not fun enough for grinding.

Combat isn't the only way to level up in the game. You also get experience from completing quests and challenges, picking locks, hacking computers, passing stat checks, and probably by doing some other stuff. I've never even had to grind because I level up naturally while progressing through the game, and during quests I usually take the pacifist route whenever possible. If you've seriously been having trouble with the game, you're either not doing enough quests or you're distributing your stats in a weird way. So again, if you can't finish a quest then just go do something else for a while and come back when you've levelled up a bit. Just because it's a WRPG doesn't mean you can cheese your way through the game.

Well if I'm going to tell you the best way to accomplish these quests, first I'm going to have to ask a question. What do you want out of them? Like Eli said there are multiple ways to complete a quest and even different endings for each so you should be fine in most cases.

Though even if you get an unsatisfactory ending, you said it yourself, "That's what multiple playthroughs are for". Even still I'm 99% positive the 7:00pm "time limit" only matters for when you're actually in the basement as that's the only time you can call the waiter to bring up the food and drinks. The quest won't actually fail.

So let's weigh your options:

Beyond the Beef:

Save Ted Gunderson and...

Expose Mortimer
  • Expose Mortimer as a cannibal by using fake meat and entering the Employee Banquet Hall while he's explaining what the guests ate.
  • Sabotage the dinner by spiking the drinks beforehand.
  • Save Heck from the Freezer without a replacement, ruining the dinner.

Help Mortimer
  • Replace Ted with Carl St. Claire III or a human companion.
  • Replace Ted with an unwanted human companion.
  • Replace Ted with the fake meat dish without publicly exposing Mortimer.

Kill the Gundersons and...

Expose Mortimer
  • Do any of the above methods after Heck or Ted have died.

Help Mortimer
  • Replace Ted with the Fake Meat Pie after killing him.
  • Replace Ted with a human companion after killing him.
  • Replace Ted with Carl St. Claire III after killing him.
  • Do any of the above after killing Ted and spreading his remains in Heck's apartment, then reporting to a Securitron.

Note: Why kill the Gundersons?
See Pheeble Will.

Note: I can't get the keys from Mortimer!
Stealth kill him and take the keys or pick-pocket them. Stealth killing Mortimer will NOT turn the White Gloves hostile.

Oh My Papa:

Let Papa Kahn live and...

Convince the Kahns to commit suicide at Hover Dam.
  • Convince Papa Kanhs Advisers to break their alliance with Cesar and convince Papa that the Kahns have no legacy.
  • Convince Papa Kanhs Advisers to break their alliance with Cesar and convince Papa that the Kahns have no legacy after bringing him the book from The Old Mormon Fort.

Convince the Kahns to leave the Mohave after fighting at Hover Dam.
  • Convince Papa Kanhs Advisers to break their alliance with Cesar and convince Papa that the Kahns have to leave the Mohave..
  • Convince Papa Kanhs Advisers to break their alliance with Cesar and convince Papa that the Kahns have to leave the Mohave after bringing him the book from The Old Mormon Fort.

Silently kill Papa Kahn and...

Let Regis become the new Papa Kahn.
  • Convince Regis to side with the NCR or simply drop the Kahn's alliance with Cesar.

Become the new Papa Kahn.
  • Simply tell Regis what you want the Kahns to do.

Exterminate the Kahns.
  • Pretty self explanatory, honestly.

Note: How do I become Papa Kahn?
Avenge the Kanhs lost at Bitter Springs by completing We Are Legion for Dead Sea. If you use Stealth Kills, the camp's survivors will not turn hostile until after the quest is completed.

Note: Why kill the Kahns?
Colonel Moore asks you to do it as part of an NCR quest. You can still complete this quest this way if Regis somehow accidentally dies.

As for How Little We know...that quest is pretty fucking big. I'll help you with that one but first I need to know what you've done so far in it. Telling me what you've done in the other two quests would also help.

In my endless search for a horror game that would actually scare me I have found it.
Call of Cthulhu Dark Corners of the Earth is a really cool game with a creepy atmosphere that makes me feel uneasy and there was a scene that actually scared me, and I didn't even get to the scary parts. The only thing I hate about it is that it crashes quite frequently.

    Hakudamashi

I finished Dust:An Elysian Tail, and I enjoyed it quite a lot.

I mostly appreciated the feature where if you sell a material to the shop at least once, they'll catalogue it and stock up on it. Makes grinding for fetch quests and crafting a complete non-issue.

The combat is incredibly simple, but the game, I feel, is just the right length that it doesn't become a bore, and they change up the environments enough to keep me invested, although that Graveyard level seriously dragged on forever, my one sour spot in the whole adventure.

Lastly, Dust, Fidget and Arrah are great, together and on their own.

So my brother got me a PS4 as a surprise present the other day, along with Ground Zeroes, The Phantom Pain, Destiny and GTA5

So we were trying to get things set up nice and proper, everything seemed to be working fine until internet got involved. To cut a long story short, there's 2 things about the PS4 I find very irritating:
    1. It's download speed is capped, whatever the specific number is I dunno, but the point is it downloads shit way too slow for my liking and it refuses to use the full speed I have available.

    2. It is a complete bandwidth hog. I'm well aware that when things are downloading it takes priority and everything else using the internet is going to be slower, such is the case with Steam especially, but this thing demands soo much that everything else comes to a near screeching halt, almost unusable. And it's like just being on, rest mode or otherwise.

From how much I looked into this, there doesn't seem to be any fix or solution other than to just deal with it, and if that's the case, then I'm gonna get multiplat games on the PC whenever possible so I can avoid the hassle.

Ya know how I mentioned in a thread I got a new laptop, well with this I got the chance to test out and enjoy some really neat games:
-Devil May Cry 4, slicing demons into pieces in HD is more satisfying than before, and unlike DMC3's PC version, this is a great port, with fully a functional options screen, and good and easy to configure controls.
-Overlord, well if I can't be one in real life this game at least shows how ruling over an army of creatures feels like, and it feels good. I could play this on my oldest PC too, but with the lowest settings a game can have and lag it was not nearly as fun as it should be.
-Back To The Future: The Game, probably the last TellTale game I would ever enjoy. The game has a really good story, and as a fan of the trilogy I can safely say that this game is the best movie-based game and sequel to a respectable series ever (although I haven't played that cool looking Ghost Busters game).
-Ultra Street Fighter 4, it has officially become my favorite fighting game.

Not really, I'm a bit tired of zombie Apocalypse stories and it's too depressing for me.

    Ioshyriku

It's nice and all, but a bit messy after that nuclear war that happened some time ago.
I can run Fallout 3 pretty well on medium settings, it's way smoother than I expected it to be, especially since I installed some mods to make it prettier, although I can't properly configure the mouse sensitivity so turning could be a bit better (it's either too slow or too fast) and the character creation and pipboy lag a bit even on the lowest settings for some reason.
The game itself is really fun, exploring the wasteland is really interesting (if not a bit depressing), I love the oldschool music that plays on Galaxy News Radio and I really like the story so far.

It just occurred to me, that having a smaller screen (phone) I now can play Game Gear games without getting my eyes tired, so I am finally getting around to playing Phantasy Star Adventure, it's a pretty interesting spin-off.

Menu based adventure games are actually really good on a touchscreen rather than platformers or action RPGs that I usually emulate, that being said, I might give Snatcher and Policenauts a go in the near future.

Been playing Halo 5: Guardians since i finally got an xbox one. I liked the story; I don't see why people complained about the ending.
I was also finally able to get Splatoon so my Ratchet and Clank itch is finally being scratched.
I bought Shantae after over a decade since last playing it. Feels like the five minutes of playing as i remember it.
I also bought Shantae and the Pirate's Curse because it was on sale at the time.
Super Smash Brothers for Wii U/3DS is a no-brainer.
Ori and the Blind Forest came with my Xbox One.
Child of Light and Rayman Legends were free on Xbox One so i have been playing those games lately as well.
TitanFall was on sale and Killer Instinct just became (halfway) free for me.
Destiny I have been playing for months now.
Battlefield 4 was also on sale.
Castle Crashers Remastered was free for those who owned the original game on Xbox 360

The only trucking game I played was Hard Truck: 18 Wheels of Steel when I was a child, I had fun with it but it got boring after a while, I might try the Euro Truck Simulator titles one day because of the awesome praise they get.

So remember my journey trough the Capital Wasteland? well I don't know what I did but Fallout 3 isn't working anymore, tried reinstalling it, I also looked for patches and fixes, even tried replacing the .dll file that people on Steam suggested and nothing... so I got New Vegas and it rocks, it's funny (3 had it's moments but it felt like it took itself too seriously most of the time). Although it takes place in what is mostly a desert I feel like it's easier to find my way from place to place without using the map, there are a ton of cool things to discover and oddly enough it feels more lively than DC. I also like how it makes me feel like the protagonist in a Western, the radio stations may or may not have helped with that... although I wish there were more songs.

Also Phantasy Star Online 2, I am really enjoying it so far it's fun and fast, making PSO, PS Zero and PSU feel like they were made by snails. Although I kinda hate that some cool things are premium member exclusive, like items that revive you after you died and tickets to get special event outfits and items, you can get the latter with FUN points as well but it takes a lot of time to get them and you need a ton of luck to pick the right ticket, there might be other ways but since the game is still 50% in Japanese I don't know any.
I like that it's easy to gain levels, either by fighting or just completing tasks for NPCs ranging from defeating a certain enemy or playing with the balloons flying around in the casino area, speaking of which, that place is damn addictive but at least you don't lose anything except for your time.
I made two characters, my main one where I use the same username I do here and a mysterious one that I want to be remembered by players the same way SORO from the animated series is. What saddens me though is the fact that if we would get a western release (hopefully some time after the PS4 version is released), I won't be able to bring them.

    ShadowCM

I've been playing an unhealthy amount of GTA Online lately, trying to save up money. Other than that I have also been playing some Starfox 64 3D and Sonic Robo Blast 2 on and off for the past week or so.

I started playing Phantasy Star IV once again, for the *insert huge number here*th time, although this time on my phone.
And I love it as much as I did back in the day, although I don't remember it being so grind heavy (now I get that reference from Adventure Time). That aside, it still holds up in my opinion, nice graphics, great characters, fun turn-based combat (although I wish pulling combination attacks was easier), spectacular music (even though many of the tracks are remixes of songs from the first game) and the story is ten hundred billion times better than the mess PSO2 has become.
Also gave Samurai Warriors 2 a go, I only played it in Free Mode so far, and really enjoyed it... until Oda Nobunaga died and I got a game over. Sadly, I can't play it too much, as even without playing games, I can't really concentrate on my studies properly.

Also, I've been pretty addicted to Burnout Paradise lately, unlocking cars, causing mayhem and doing neat stunts to my heart's content.

I've also been in a beat-em-up need lately so I got finally got around to playing Batman Arkham Asylum (I am amazed I can run it at a really good speed and even on the lowest settings the game still looks really good), I can't believe how fun it is and how they didn't think of porting it to arcades, it would be perfect for that. And also Kenka Bancho Badass Rumble for PSP, which is pretty much Yakuza with kids or a 3D River City Ransom, so yeah it's great and the plot is hilarious.
