What's so bad about SLW?

If you post reasons, I can make great comebacks.

The terrible controls.
The forced motion controls for all but two wisps.
Hidden springs that you can't advance without and no indication that they're there.
The shitty story.
Parkour 'mechanics' that don't even work half of the time.
Zavok in all of his fights. I actually had to look up how to beat him in his second fight.
Introducing many new mechanics and not telling you how to use any of them, or even telling you some exist then still forcing you to use them(I'm looking at you, homing charge).
Glitches that can cause you to fuck gravity up, force you to have to restart, make you fall out of the stage's boundaries or a combination of all three.
The fact that they scrapped a perfectly good engine for this pile of shit.

The entire game is just a fucking mess. I'm not saying people can't like it, but I am saying they can't deny it's flaws.

Then you're in an underwater base that looks oddly like the one in the first world and happens to have been hidden under a volcano.

...and for some reason someone thought broken rails were a good method of transportation.

Or the same guy who thought an outdoor casino in the middle of a floating polar dessert was a good idea, then had the nads to install electric fences that only activated when people got near.

Well let's not go that far. Can't assume Eggman put that casino there but apparently he had time to build a few bases and enslave an alien race so there's that.

They added regular controls for Wisps and 100 rings = 1-up in a patch. So the game is somewhat better now?

Wait, they patched it?
I forgot about the last one but yes. The game is slightly more bearable now that those paths that are solely to get you rings have a purpose.

Too bad I'll never touch this thing again.

Wolfy

Please allow me to add on to what everyone else has said so far.

The game allegedly carries a better balance of platforming and speed than in the other games, yet the physics engine is raped beyond all recognition since the momentum from when you ran hardly ever carries into your jump, causing a lot of unintended deaths. Along with that, the addition of a run button to improve platforming accuracy was a terrible idea in my opinion. I've played through all of Lost World while never letting go of the run button because it's pretty much required to complete the game. Instead of improving platforming, all the run button did was put additional strain on my right index finger. If you don't hold the run button, the game suddenly isn't Sonic the Hedgehog anymore and is now Pokémon without the running shoes and a jump that can't even move you three feet forward.

The level design also suffers from a severe case of ass and while it does have a lot of platforming, they forgot to make the platforming fun. This was allegedly their response to the massive amounts of autopilot found in other Sonic games yet this game has been shown to suffer from Takashi Iizuka syndrome at times as well. What makes this even worse is that the moments you actually DO get to play are the moments you would rather watch the autopilot handle everything for you.

I'll ceasefire for now, but I'd love to see how you could make proper comebacks to this, iamgamer.
