Well I was ABOUT to start watching K-On! subtitled... but Bandai announced they licensed it, so I'll wait.

I've got vol. 1 of Suzuka, season 2 of Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple, and the whole frickin box set of Rurouni Kenshin to watch.

Also, I'm getting the limited editions of Lucky Star as I find them. I know, I could order them all online, but I prefer to give my cash to an actual store if I can.

Also watching Dragonball Z: Kai, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and  Kekkaishi (despite how meh it is so far) as the air on TV. And I'll start watching Bleach again as soon as it swaps airing new episodes with Brotherhood next month.

Just for your edification,Brotherhood is finnally finished

If FUNimation re-licenses that, I'm sold.

If they did, they would have to re-dub it to make up for all the edits in the old version. But, I'd like it if they included the old dub too, for nostalgia. And I wonder if they would try to get the old cast or if they would go straight to a new cast.

No, the manga is 10X better. Regardless of the language, the anime is inferior. Also, please don't tell me it's because you have something against dubs.

I don't know where to get the manga.

I the boondocks is an anime. The word "anime" pertains to animation style of the show not the subject so yes it does count.

No. Anime is any kind of non-interactive animation made in Japan. Boondocks is not Japanese, so it's not anime. It's still a good cartoon, just not anime. If you're going by animation style, Avatar: The Last Airbender and Code Lyoko would be anime. And they aren't. Again, not that those are bad shows. But they aren't anime.

In short: ANIME IS NOT AN ANIMATION STYLE.

I haven't seen High School of the Dead yet. It's already been licensed by Sentai Filmworks, so I'll wait for the DVDs.

As for Elfen Lied... that show's look is awesome... but the story is full of holes. If the show had been twice as long, it would have benefited. The ending was okay, but even that had some weird things about it. Even so, the first few minutes of the first episode are awesome. Dropletz

hmm...I guess, I would say the anime I see on TV.

Naruto...Sometimes, whenever I remember its on. GAH! I hate that it comes on DisneyXD now; it doesn't really fix there.

I would say Bleach, but the fillers are SO damn boring. Especially, where they are now. The Ep. with the clueless princess kid. What happened with the Hueco Mundo thing they last left off with?

I like that show that comes on after it, tho...It's start with a K...Hmm, how can I explain it better...Ah, the main character's a dude who put seethrough boxes around demons and destroy'em within'em...or whatever...Anyways, right now that's better than Bleach!

I liked looking at Monster up until it ended. I'll admit that some of the episodes were boring and the plot was kinda...convoluted, but it still was watchable.

Man...Don't get me started on DBZKai...I mean, it's alright, but at the sametime...It's WAY TOO fast-pace...They practically skips all of the fighting in the fight scene and once they do actually fight...it kinda lame. It just them shooting be energy blasts at each other. -_-

If I want to see some go ol'fashion overly violence fight scene, I'll just look at SMBZ. LOL

This sums up the anime crap I look at on TV!

It's not Japanese so it's not anime. This isn't hard people. :P

Here's what I consider anime. If it meets these criteria, it's anime.

  • It is some form of animation (traditional hand drawn, CGI, etc.).
  • It is not interactive (meaning no video games).
  • It is Japanese in origin (meaning it was animated there, produced there, etc.).

And it has to meet all three.

The ONLY things I can think of that might gray the lines are co-productions between Japan and another country (like France with Ōban Star-Racers) and video game cutscenes, but cutscenes would ONLY be considered anime if, separated from the rest of the video game, they meet those 3 criteria.

It's nothing against cartoons. Cartoons can be just as awesome as anime. But a distinction has to be made.

It's nothing against cartoons. Cartoons can be just as awesome as anime. But a distinction has to be made.

Yeah, the games aren't anime. The ANIMATED SERIES are anime. Just because there's a game based on something doesn't mean the whole series isn't anime. Dragon Ball has zillions of games, but it's still anime. But those games are not anime. See how it works? :P

No, it's something to do with some mafia members getting turned into baby's and they helping some kids with rings called 7 rings or whatever into becoming powerful people and there's one part where they go into the past/future or another. In case you've been watching it, FMA: Brotherhood will start airing new episodes on [Adult Swim] again in January and you can get the first new one [AS] is going to show, episode 27, on iTunes right now for free.

I'm going to watch the 3 newest episodes of Oreimo within the next day or so. And I've got the season 1 Spice and Wolf box set waiting on me. More Rurouni Kenshin after that, unless I get more for Christmas, which I hope I do. :3

I've also decided to continue watching Toriko, It's already been three years since the last dubbed episode and I don't think they'll continue it, although it will take me some time to get used to the original.

And to end this with a bang, I've just watched the second Persona 3 movie, and oh my God, it is amazing, although it does feel rushed, in my opinion it is perfect. I could ever say it surpasses the game, and that game is almost sacred to me. If you have the time, watch it!
But watch the first one first, because some small things were changed in the story as a whole.
I can't wait for the next two.

Goddamnit, Japan.

Elija2

I just watched the first episode of Punch Line.

-Watched Slayers Premium, it was nice, I really liked the art style.
-Finished Azumanga Daioh again.
-I've also watched and finished Daily Lives of High School Boys, it was funny, reminded me of me and my friends back in Grade School and Middle School.
-I'm currently watching Nichijou and it's amazing.
-I'm also watching Yuyushiki, it's cute and funny but nothing really special.

Added to the list are:
-Is this a Zombie?, I'm really dissapointed in myself not giving this show a chance a long time ago, it's pretty darn awesome. And I never knew I'd ever wish to be undead.
-Joshiraku, it's cute, really funny and looks nice, not sure what else I should say about it.
-One Punch Man, great comedy, badass action and really good animation.
And two series of shorts:
-Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories, I don't know why but I like getting scared, and this show does this easily.
-Tonari no Seki-kun: The Master of Killing Time, you know how most of us either draw or play around instead of paying attention in class like good children should? Well this kid takes that to the next level.

It's about a dude who got stabbed by a serial killer while trying to save a woman from him, he then got ressurected by a cute necromancer. After some time he accidentally stole the powers of a magical girl, turning him into one making his weird life even weirder. It's a funny show, I reccomend it.

Started watching Noragami Aragoto, this season came faster than I expected it to be.
The opening is not as cool as the first one but the style is still there.
The animation seems to have taken a step back though, but that might be just my immagination.
Also Yato's voice sounds different, I hope his VA is not sick or anything.
It also seems that Lotus Joice isn't performing in it anymore.

Also, compared to season 1, this one is quite depressing, it still has some funny scenese here and there but the FEELS are overcoming them.

Akame Ga Kill is a really neat show that has alot of action and supprises

Currently watching the first part of Digimon Adventure Tri, saw the first two episodes but I'll watch the other two tomorrow (it's sort of a tradition to me to watch Digimon on our national day - 1st of December).
I like it so far, it's really well animated, especially the action scenes, very colourfull and the shading's quite nice as well, although something feels weird about the way they are drawn.
Other than that... it's Digimon, there is nothing else I can say without praising the heck out of it.
Child me is back, baby!
I also screamed like a happy little girl when Agumon evolved with the same song they used in the original series.

EDIT:

Finished it, it was pretty awesome, but I think it would work much better as an actual series than a film.
Can't wait to see the next part.

Ioshyriku

Finished Is This a Zombie?, it was fun, the second season (Of The Dead) seemed more concentrated on the humor and, story-wise feels a bit unfinished (makes sense since it ended in 2011, while the manga ended in 2013 and the light novel ended this year - I might give them a try someday), but it was a fun journey.

Started watching Samurai Champloo, directed by the same person in charge of Cowboy Bebop, and it's pretty damn awesome, I'm currently at episode 7.

Ioshyriku

Remember when I said that I finished the first season of Noragami in a weekend, well the same happened with Birdy the Mighty Decode, the show was pretty funny, then it got interesting, then more interesting, then the plot thickened and became darker and finished with a happy ending. It was really good I recommend it to anyone who likes odd but fun slice of life science fiction stories.
I also finished One Punch Man, it was awesome, I hope it gets a second season.

Skyle369

Oh god, this topic is almost 6 years old and alive.

I'm following Dragon Ball Super, One Piece, and Haikyuu!! right now.

Planetes, 14 episodes left. After that, I'll start watching Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu.

Movies:
-Porco Rosso
-Kiki's Delivery Service
Me describing them would be a disservice, I suggest watching Doug Walker's Disneycember review of them, but it would be better if you watched them.

Series:
-"Gyakkyō Burai Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor"; to tell you the truth I only started watching it because I like the art style, but the show itself is really cool, even though it's about gambling.
-"Shimoneta - A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn't Exist"; I started watching it just for how ridiculous the concept is. Another hilarious pervy-comedy made by J.C. Staff. It's not as sexual as Prison School, but I suggest wearing headphones or watching it when you're home alone since... there are..... noises.
EDIT: I was wrong, Prison School only had fanservice and the only sexual stuff is a ton of chapters in the manga after the plot of the anime, this on the other hand has a girl trying to feed the MC her p**sy juice in the 4th episode... so yeah..... but it's still pretty hilarious.
-"Phantasy Star Online 2: The Animation", colour me impressed, the show is actually pretty good, a bit confusing on the direction it's trying to take, but decent nonetheless. It even taught me some things about the game itself.
-I also tried watching "WataMote", but it was too painful I couldn't even finish the first episode.
There are a few more, but I need to watch more of them to understand what they are about.

And Ioshyriku posts once again.
So I've been watching Good Luck Girl! is a show about a girl with a huge rack too much luck that is accidentally drown from the people around her, so a god of poverty, which is now the best best girl, is sent to take that away. It's probably the funniest anime I've ever seen, beating even School Rumble with it's awesome silliness. Also there are some moments in the first few episodes that kinda touched my heart strings, so there is that. I still have two more episodes but I don't want to finish it yet. Also this:

Another anime I started watching this week is Sabagebu! -Survival Game Club!, or "How the bloody hell is this a shojo anime?" as I call it, is a hilarious little show about a bunch high school girls with overly dramatic imaginations and their daily lives in a survival game club. I'm still at the third episode, even so it seems to get crazier as it goes on, which is awesome.

I've also seen the third Persona 3 movie, Falling Down.
I love how they implemented some of the social links in the actual story instead of showing still pics like in the last one. I can't believe how real Makoto acts in this episode; Junpei and Chidori's relationship also feels very real; Aigis once again proves how awesome she is; but the it still feels rushed, Seriously, I think the last twenty minutes of this movie could've been placed in the next one, I mean the story here feels very short, heck they got over a very important plot element in the first 15 minutes and also there is not much to tell after this other than finishing with Tartarus and the final boss, unless they want to put some of The Answer's elements at the end. Can't wait for Winter of Rebirth.

People say it get's stupid only towards the end, but for now it feels like a normal shonen show with a funky soundtrack.

Elija2

Fun Fact: Hideki Naganuma (the composer for the Jet Set Radio soundtracks) also composed some songs for the Air Gear anime.

Ioshyriku

I know, I actually had a hunch so I googled that at around episode 2 to make sure.

Ioshyriku

- That stuff about Air Gear getting dumb and convoluted was not true, it almost went there, but the show continued being fun and easy to understand; maybe that's true only about the manga.
So yeah, I finished it, but I'm kinda sad that I did since I had lots of fun watching it.
- I also started watching Tsuritama about the same time I started with Air Gear, but I am taking it slow since it's more a relaxing type of show and not fun to marathon, since that would make it very boring. It has some enjoyable characters, good music (similar to Azumanga Daioh and Yotsuba) and interesting art style with a nice use of color.
- We also have Dragon Ball Super, I wanted to wait for the dub, especially since the English subs are messed up everywhere I looked and dubs, especially the Funimation ones make some shows more fun. But I really wanted to watch it and I gladly found a site with Romanian subtitles that are actually good and am currently at episode 19.
- I am currently watching Assassination Classroom, which destroyed my expectations and it's a really good show with great humor and some touching moments. Who knew an alien that plans to destroy the world could be such a great example for someone planning to become a teacher.

I also started watching Osomatsu-san a sequel/revival of an anime from the 60s, and it is really funny.
And, you know, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Part 4: Diamond is Unbreakable premiered today, and I watched, and liked it, and it will be amazing like the previous parts!

Phantasy Star Online 2 the Animation has ended, it was not that great of a show, but it was fun to watch... it's funny, since lately I considered it more fun than the game itself.

More anime to the list, this time I'll keep the descriptions short:
- Gatchaman Crowds: Very stylish Tatsunoko Production superhero show. Don't like the designs of their costumes though, the original Gatchaman costumes looked cooler. Kinda reminds me of the Devil Survivor games for some reason.
- My Hero Academia: A normal boy born in a world full of people with superpowers and his quest of becoming a hero himself.
- Golden Boy: A pervert with a golden heart on his journey to learn about the world.
- Great Teacher Onizuka: An old gang member that becomes a teacher.
- Trigun: I really don't have to tell you what this classic is about. I only saw like 9 episodes when I was a kid and I really needed to watch it. Better late then never.

-I also began watching Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. It's great, but I think it rushes over a few things in the first 14 episodes (that might be because the first series went over them in more detail... but still). From 15 onward it's a totally different story. I recommend anyone interested to watch both series and decide which they like more. For me it's a tie for now.

-and got a new slice-of-life anime going by the name of Three Leaves, Three Colors, which for now is just cute, but people say that it will get very funny later on. They also say it's like a combo of Lucky Star and Azumanga Daioh, which I don't see. It's clearly not as fun as Azumanga Daioh or as weird as Lucky Star (which I just can't enjoy), it's more like Yuyushiki but with a much better artwork. Seriously, I could just stare at the backgrounds in the show for days.

Finished FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, it was freaking amazing... although I kinda prefer the first series' ending. Not to say it's bad, but the main villain trying to have the powers of God has, in my opinion, been done to death.

-Akame ga Kill, now this is an odd one, from what I've seen about the show on the internet in the past it really put me off, as it seems as your typical gory and edgy type of anime. But after this badass girl at the prom recommended it to me I've decided to give it a chance and it blew all my expectations, it's actually a really good and fun show to watch. Pretty much a group of hero assassins slaying evil doers with ancient high-tech weapons. The first part has the same strange balance between humor and seriousness as Yu Yu Hakusho's last seasons had. WARNING: don't get too attached to some of the characters, as some scenes (heck, even episodes) will rip your heart apart.

-Planetes, a show featuring a group of people that are pretty much space janitors, cleaning the atmosphere of space debris to make space travel safe. It is really enjoyable and I really like the character interactions.

-Also started watching Cowboy Bebop, as the show is really great and I haven't seen it since I was 13, and even then, I've managed to watch only a few episodes.
