I also heard this'll play Xbox games.

As I've said before, Windows 7 hasn't even been out very long and they're already doing this? makes me glad I never bought 7.

Does anyone know where one could find these 'leaks'?

The Metro UI is the only thing that takes me a second to understand but with customization options I can get use to that REAL quickly considering it could give me a lot of options.

Either way, I'm glad I didn't buy 7 because I don't like to pay a lot of money for something like this. And given I only build my own PCs, it's not like I get it with the stuff I buy. Heck, if this is good as you say it is it may just be worth actually buying.

I'm 17 years old and I still don't know the purpose of an operating system other than the computer can't run without it.

This sounds interesting.
Good thing Mum never bought 7.
Now that a new OS is coming out...
I'm still running XP.

That right there is enough reason for me to get Windows 8..
Wow.
Big improvement.
8 might actually be something different.
And something much better.

XP is based on Windows 2000 technology.. The kernel version is over 10 years old now. IIRC XP was released October '01. So we're almost to the 10 year on the retail -_-

Wha-?

You can run windows 8 within another operating system... I tried it with within windows 7, it installed in under 10 minutes, download took about 40 min... so yea everything took about an hour to get everything going, oh and i will mention that for an OS not even in beta, it is very stable... no crashes yet

How? It's amazing for gamers, even a weak Lenovo X220 can do well for it.
Xbox Live, Windows Live, Windows App Store, new Metro styled theme
How is it bad? :P

It's functionally and visually bad for people who like classic windows.

It's great for people who just want an easy OS for it's interface as opposed to it's core, and it's great for gamers who aren't looking at the desktop 90% of the time anyway.

I wonder if developers like it.

Ouch. Do you know why?

Is it hard to develop for, or is it just backwards compatibility that sucks or...what?
